What you actually need as a Landscape Photographer

GAS ( Gear Acquisition Syndrome ), we all suffer from it when we start our photography journey. P.lease try and get over it ASAP. I suffered quite a while. There is quite a lot of marketing out there that tries to convince us we need to fill a bag up with loads of stuff.
We don't!
If you have a friend who does photography, ask them for advice & then do a bit more research.
There are some great photographers out there, I don't mean image wise either, some you will contact & they will answer your questions, others seem to have forgot what is was like to start on their journey.
Anyway, once you have decided on your camera body, you need a lens or lenses. This bit is tricky, because the best glass makes a better image ( its nice & crisp & sharp, which it is ), but it is heavy. I don't mean heavy heavy, but if you have to walk for a distance, do you want to carry an extra 1 - 2 kgs.
Then what are you going to carry it in? There are hundreds of camera bags out there! I've had 3.
I had a nice small one when I first started, because I had a small crop sensor camera & 18-200mm lens.
That's where I should of stopped, then spent my time going out. But I got GAS, I got a bigger crop sensor camera & some lenses, therefore I needed a bigger bag. It did all help. But I changed to a full frame camera, with some nice ish glass. Now I was going out more, I needed a better bag, to carry all my stuff.
But the more you go out, the more you start to fine tune your gear, so you can actually start carrying less!
Which now leads on to what I actually use!
The bag, is actually quite big. I use an old 60l backpack....
I have an insert which holds my camera & lenses, plus extras.
The rest of the bag is used for the stuff I use when out, waterproofs, layers, snacks & drink. The longer you can stay out , the more chance of capturing your image. ( Unless your really lucky, where you plan the image, then just rock up and take the shot. )
Tripods, you might ask? Get a good one, with a good head.
